the nationwide mercury prize winner of 2007 is...
KLAXONS.
the nu-rave foursome walked away with the best album of the year award, along with £20,000, as amy winehouse slunk away, disappointed. they had not been tipped for the award (bat for lashes was the sleeper favorite), and they themselves are as shocked as all of the presenters. drunk as skunks, the ex-three piece (now performing as a four-piece) had regaled the mercury audience with "golden skans" earlier in the evening, and will no doubt be partying like rock stars for the rest of the evening. they deserve it.
congratulations, klaxons!
